Jessie Mae Sivits, 90 years of age of North Platte died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Kearney County Health Service, Long Term Care in Minden. Jessie was born on January 18, 1921 in Elsie, Nebraska to James A. and Lily R. (Dalgarn) Brown. The family moved to a farm near Wallace and in 1934 moved into Wallace. On September 26, 1940, she married Herbert O. Sivits. They made their home in North Platte. Herbert preceded her in death. Survivors include five daughters, Judy Gilbert of Chandler, AZ, Bobbie Heitman and her husband, Bob of Minden, Marcia Millen of Salt Lake City, UT, Carol Molina of Friendswood, TX, Connie Lupo and her husband, Steve of Spring, TX; one son, Edward Sivits of Salt Lake City, UT; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; five sisters, Virginia Clark of St Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Dorothy Fear of North Platte, Mildred Martin of Wallace, Margaret Snyder of The Dalles, OR and Mary Sherman of Sterling, CO; and one brother, James Brown of Maiden, Virginia. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lily Cecil and one brother, Donald Brown. Jessie enjoyed taking part in the many social events of the Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles, the VFW and the Moose Lodge where she was a member for many years. She also was a member of the Wallace American Legion Auxiliary for 31 years and a member of the First Christian Church in North Platte. Memorial services will be on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial will be at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
