CARLSON, Dale G.

Dale G. Carlson, 87 years of age from Minden, formerly of Axtell died on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Dale was born on August 12, 1924 in Minden to Gilbert and Edith (Thomsen) Carlson. He grew up in the Minden-Axtell area and graduated from Axtell High School in 1942. Dale was a veteran of World War II serving from 1944 until 1945. On June 24, 1956 he married Beverly Johnson at her parents home in Holdrege. They lived and farmed in the Minden-Axtell area. Dale was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell and had served on the church council. He was a member of the Axtell Lions Club, Axtell Co-op Board, Scandinavian Mutual Board and the Blaine Township Board. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and most of all his family. Memorials are suggested to the Axtell Volunteer Fire Department or the Bethany Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Minden; two sons, Michael Carlson and his wife, Carol of Rio Rancho, NM and Bradley Carlson and his wife, Kristi of Minden; nine grandchildren, Chelsea Carlson, Grant Carlson, Bryce Carlson, Brandee Carlson, Michael Carlson, Amie Bell, Spencer Smith, Nicholas Gonzales and Amber Gonzales; and two great grandchildren, J. J. Bell and Quincy Bell. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Carlson and sister, Jeanette Windgate. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell with Rev. David Evenson officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with the family present from 5-6 p.m.
