Earl F. Lindau, 96 years of age from Minden, formerly of Hildreth died on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Earl was born on November 9, 1914 in Kearney County, near Hildreth to Julius and Rasa (Johnson) Lindau. He grew up in the Hildreth area and graduated from Hildreth High School in 1933. On January 1, 1940 he married Freda Harms and they lived and farmed north of Hildreth. To this union four children were born, Betty, Gary, Jolene and Marla. They moved into Hildreth in 1976. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Scott and her husband, Ed of Wallace, NE, Jolene Holland of Alma and Marla Burwell and her husband, Randy of Norman, NE; son Gary Lindau and his wife, Kathy of Wilcox, AZ; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother Ora Lindau and his wife, Zelma of Kearney and sister, Fern Warnken of Holdrege. He is preceded in death by his wife, Freda, two grandchildren and a sister. A memorial has been established in his name. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Byrnes officiating. Burial will be in the Hildreth Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Jelden-Craig Funeral Home in Hildreth on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
