Former area resident Harley Lee Wyatt, 82, of McAllen, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in McAllen. A memorial mass is 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been establishe at Comfort House Services, Inc., 617 Dallas Ave., McAllen, TX 78501. *** Lunch will follow the Mass at the church. He was born in Kearney, Neb., to Kiah and Margaret Wyatt on October 19, 1929. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Larry, Jerry, and Jimmy Joe; also a great-grandson, Thomas. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Lavurne; a brother, Glen Thomas of Aurora, Neb.; two sisters, Dorothy Paul of Apple Valley, Calif., and Hazel Eastman of Cannon City, Colo.; also two sons, Roger of Gothenburg, Neb., Edward of Superior, Neb.; and one daughter, Pamela Garrick of North Platte, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; five stepchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Harley worked for Coca Cola in Holdrege, Neb., for 8 1/2 years and Debus/Metz Baking Co., for 38 1/2 years, retiring as general manager.
