LARSON, Elton H.


Elton H. Larson, 94 years of age from Minden, NE died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Kearney County Health Service-Long Term Care in Minden. Elton was born on January 12, 1917 in Loomis, NE to Henry and Agnes (Brodine) Larson. He grew in the Loomis area and graduated from Loomis High School in 1934. He worked for Tri-County and helped build Kingsley Dam before he started farming in 1944. On April 9, 1944 he married Mavis Getty in Holdrege. They lived north of Loomis one year and then moved to a farm north of Holdrege and lived until 1965. In 1965 they moved south of Minden and farm in that area. They retired in 1979 and in 2003 they moved to Northridge in Kearney until moving to Minden in 2008. Mavis died in 2005. Elton was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden. He enjoyed playing cards, going to auctions, and following his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities over the years. He always enjoyed keeping up with what was going on at the farm. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney County Medical Foundation or the United Methodist Church in Minden. Survivors include daughter, Sharon Cederburg of Minden; son, Jeff Larson and his wife, Sue of Minden; five grandchildren, Tragg and Pete Olson, Scott Cederburg and his wife, Melissa, Matt Cederburg and his wife, Tracey and Lindsey Larson; five great grandchildren, Addison and Lauren Cederburg and Samuel, Sophia and Alyssa Cederburg; two step grandchildren, Elizabeth Draper and her husband, Brandon and Karen Space and her husband, Dusty; four step great, William and Grace Draper and Brinn and Halle Space; sisters in-law, Gladys Larson, LaVonne Larson, Delores Larson, Rosie Hartman and Mary Larson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marvis, daughter, Deanna Olson, son in-law, Gary Cederburg, six brothers, Clifton, Ralph, Ray, Roland, Elliott and Warren Larson and his wife, Lois; Funeral service will be on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev, Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. with the family present from 4-6 p.m.
