Scott Morgan
Scott Morgan Wells, 54 years of age from Axtell, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Scott was born on May 29, 1957 in Kearney, NE to Morgan and Shirley (Thurston) Wells. Scott grew up in the Axtell area and graduated from Axtell High School. He then attended college. On November 26, 1977 he married Celeste Wendell and they lived and farmed near Axtell. Scott and Celeste were blessed with two children, Matthew and Michelle. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and son. He lived on the family farm all his life. Scott was a member of the Keene Evangelical Free Church, and had served on many committees and boards within the church. He was the S.W.A.T. youth group leader, member of the Axtell Optimists and had served on the Axtell CO-OP board. Scott was the Axtell assistant boys basketball coach for four years; he coached youth softball, baseball, and basketball. Scott enjoyed coaching, not just for the sport itself, but for the love and care for the youth that he coached. He also loved playing fast pitch softball and golf. Scott enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Survivors include his wife, Celeste of Axtell; son Matt Wells and his wife, Sara of Axtell; daughter, Michelle Jura and her husband, Dusty of Axtell; grandson, Nolan Wells; father, Morgan Wells and his wife, Kathy of Axtell; two sisters, Sheree Bacus and her husband, Chuck of Lincoln and Stacy Osborn of Kearney; mother in-law and father in-law, Rodney and Delores Wendell of Keene; brother in-law and sister in-law, Jerry and Andrea Wheeler of Cadillac, MI; brother in-law and sister in-law, Tom and Stephanie Anderson of Axtell; and eight nephews, Brandt Bacus and his wife, Mandy, Jon Anderson, Jared Bacus, Marcus Anderson and his fiancée, Brittney Trampe, Mitchell Anderson, Ryan Anderson, James Osborn and Jerrod Wheeler. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley, and his grandparents; Dale and Ethel Wells, and Bill and Fern Thurston. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church in Kearney with Rev. Matthew Snell officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell. Visitation will be at the Keene Evangelical Free Church in Keene on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. The family will be present from 4-5 p.m. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
