Eula M. Flesner, 87 years of age from Minden, NE died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Kearney County Health Services, Hospital in Minden. Eula was born on September 1, 1923 in Cambridge, Nebraska to William and Anna May (Meade) Spath. She grew up in the Cambridge area and attended school in Bartley until the 11th grade. Eula moved to California and worked as a nanny for three years and then worked at the Fox Studio Café. She moved back to Nebraska and on October 12, 1946 she married John Flesner. They lived and farmed 10 miles south of Wilcox. They retired and moved into Minden in 2000. John passed away in 2002. Eula was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. While in the Wilcox area she attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church near Hildreth where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. Eula enjoyed playing bingo and working with ceramics. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Survivors include one son, William Flesner and his wife, Evelyn of Evans, CO; two daughters, Nancy Klahn and her husband, Larry of Minden and Norma Webber and her husband, Jim of Minden; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John and two brothers. Memorial services will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
