Shirley Jean Gould, 85, of Minden died on Friday May 6, 2011 at Kearney County Health Services Hospital in Minden. She was born October 5, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Frederic and Ethel (Fear) Harwood. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. She lived in Omaha, Cozad and Hutchinson, KS. Her last move brought her to Minden in 1968. In addition to being a wife, mother and grandmother, she worked in customer service all of her life, retiring from Ben Franklin's where she was known as the "fabric lady". She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minden. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Kenesaw for the past 24 years where her son Tom Gould was the Lay Pastor. She was married to Leroy Muir who preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to M.O. Gould who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Sherry Serkes of Minden, Chris Gould Anchorage. Alaska, Jim Muir of Hutchinson, KS, Janette Singer and her husband, Rod of Jones, OK, Carol Ewing of Hutchinson, KS, Tom Gould of Minden and Randy Gould and his wife, Julie of Beatrice. Also surviving is daughter-in-law Terrie Gould of Minden. Shirley was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, her son Steve Gould, son-in-law Tom Yearout and daughter-in-law Cindy Muir. Burial will be prior to the memorial service in the Minden Cemetery. Memorial services will be Saturday, May14th at 11 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minden with Rev. Don Canady and CLP Beth Fotinos officiating. Visitation is Friday, May 13th from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Church of Kenesaw, Haven Home in Kenesaw, Long Term Care in Minden and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Minden.
