GERTRUDE MABLE FOSTER
Deceased
A telegram from Lincoln Wednesday evening brought the sad news of the death of Mrs. Z. R. Foster, who was taken to a hospital in Lincoln last week in order to be treated by specialists. She passed away Wednesday afternoon June 14, 1916.
Gertrude Mable Mead was born in Thayer County, Nebraska, February 16, 1879, being 37 years, 3 months and 28 days of age at her death.
At an early age she came with her parents to this county, formerly Sioux County and settled at Meadville, where she grew to womanhood. She was married April 1st, 1896 to Z.R. Foster at Meadville, Nebr., where they lived 15 years and later moved to Madison, Nebr. Here she was converted and joined the Methodist Church. Three years ago they moved back to Brown County and lived in Ainsworth where she united with the M.E. Church. While Mr. Foster conducted his ranch near Meadville, Mrs. Foster kept the children in school and lived on their farm adjacent to Ainsworth. Her health had been failing for some time having submitted to the operating table several times but in vain.
Mrs. Foster was a woman of deep religious convictions. She was converted in 1911 and two years later she made her consecration complete and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and lived in the full glow of Divine love. She was fully prepared to enter into the joy of her Lord when he said, “Life is finished come up higher.”
Besides her loving husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, five children, three boys, Glen, Clayton, and Leon and two daughters, Gladys and Alta, all living in Ainsworth except Glen who lives in Crawford; also her aged mother Mrs. S.M. Mead, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Slonecker of Meadville and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a very active church worker, was a member of the Home and Foreign Missionary societies, and the Epworth League and never failed to attend prayer and class meeting when it was possible for her to do so. She was an ideal character of a spirit filled Christian and friends considered it a blessing to have had her acquaintance.
Funeral services will be held at the M.E. Church Saturday at 2 p.m.
