George Henry
George Henry Rewerts, 95 years of age from Hildreth, Nebraska died on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Kearney County Health Services-Hospital in Minden. George was born on March 31, 1916 to John and Rezena (Jurgens) Rewerts at their home south of Hildreth. He was baptized on April 22, 1916 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hildreth by Rev. Hauserman and confirmed in the same church by Rev. E. Dorner. He attended school at District 26 south of Hildreth. He enjoyed helping his father and others with farming. On April 18, 1940 he was united in marriage to Anna Hinrichs at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church south of Hildreth by Pastor Jungmier. They lived on several farms; then moved to a farm west of Hildreth where they lived until 2006 when they moved to Bethany Assisted Living in Minden. George and Anna were blessed with three children, Janiene, Mary and Verlyn. George was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, which later became part of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. George was a devoted husband and father. He loved farming and had a natural gift to care for and nurture animals. George liked playing cards, was an avid sports fan, attending family reunions, visiting with friends and telling stories. Survivors include two daughters, Janiene Rewerts of Kearney and Mary Steele and her husband, Garry of Edgar, NE; one son, Verlyn Rewerts of Kearney; three grandchildren, Tauny Hecht, Tara Gunderson and her husband, David and Wade Steele and his wife, Suzanne; six great grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Rewerts of Hildreth; three brothers in-law, Elmer Hinrichs and his wife, Jennie of Hildreth, Marvin Hinrichs and his wife, Irene of Hildreth and John Gishwiller of Wilcox; two sisters in-law, Edna Sheffield of Kearney and Dorene Hinrichs of Hildreth. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve and Patti Byrne officiating. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Hildreth. Visitation will be on Monday at the Jelden-Craig Funeral Home in Hildreth for 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
