EIGHMY, Mayme

Mayme Eighmy, 92 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Mayme was born on August 22, 1918 near Upland, Nebraska to Otto and Nellie (Weldon) Valentine. She grew up in the Upland area and graduated from Upland High School. On April 1, 1939 she married Frank Eighmy. They made their home in Minden. Mayme worked as a waitress in Minden and then worked for Minden Public School in the kitchen for many years. Frank died in 2000. Mayme was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and cooking for her family and friends. Survivors include one son, Charles Eighmy of Lincoln; three daughters, Marilyn Fischer and Georgianna Klusman both of Kenesaw and Brenda Farrow of Minden; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Bernice Danielson of Minden and Marian Christensen of North Platte. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, son Gene Ray, brother, Chester Valentine, sister, Lucille White and two sons in-law, LaMoine Fischer and Merlin Klusman. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
