JORGENSEN, Gail

Gail Jorgensen, 86 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Kearney County Health Services, Long Term Care Unit in Minden. Gail was born on May 22, 1924 near Norman, Nebraska to Harry and Emily (Bergsten) Jorgensen. He grew up in the Norman area and graduated from Norman High School. He farmed in the Norman area. On May 24, 1952 he married Irene Olsen and they lived and farmed near Norman. To this union two children were born, Dennis and Tim. Irene and Dennis were killed in an auto accident in August of 1964. Gail later married Harriet Timm Sumstine on February 17, 1978. They lived in Minden. Gail and Harriet enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. He always looked forward to the Prosser sale, farm sales, coffee with his friends and big farm equipment as long as it was red IH and Ford trucks. Gail was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Minden. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Minden; son, Tim Jorgensen of Evergreen, CO; Harriet's children, Mike Sumstine and his wife, Teresa on Minden, Margaret Jorgensen of Hastings and Cheryl Timm of Washington; two brothers, Wilber Jorgensen of Blue Hill and Perry Jorgensen and his wife, Dolores of Minden. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Irene, his son, Dennis and one sister. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Minden with Don Canady officiating. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 p.m.
