Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 16, 1995 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Helen Anderson Helen Irene Anderson, the daughter of George and Ingrid (Nelson) Speedie, was born at Springfield, Nebraska, on May 17, 1905, and died at Livingston, Montana, on October 12, 1995, at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 25 days. When she was age 3, the family moved to Neligh, Nebraska, where she graduated from Neligh High Scool in 1924. She then attended Nebraska Wesleyan at Lincoln for 2 years. On July 3, 1929, she was united in marriage to Carl W. Anderson, at Ainsworth, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1986. In 1955, after selling the home farm, they moved to Aurora. Following the death of her husband she moved to Livingston, Montana to be near her on Rick. She taught school at Mitchell, Burwell, Brewster, Brunswick, Neligh, and Aurora. During that time she took one and one half years of college work. She retired in 1967. She worked in Women’s Project Clubs, was a Cub Scout Den Mother and taught Sunday School. During the summer months while teaching at Neligh she worked with neighborhood youngsters in the Nebraska Weed and Wild Flower Clubs, Bird Clubs, and assisted them in preparing their ponies for show at the Antelope County Fair. She showed her own horse at the County Fair and one year at Nebraska’s Big Rodeo at Burwell in Saddle Class, and High School Trick Riding Class. Helen was a member of the Congregational Church since High School, and became a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church on April 5, 1970. She became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Neligh, and was Worthy Matron of the Aurora Chapter #93 in 1964. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one great grandson Ryan Anderson. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Richard of Livingston, Montana, and Robert of Guernsey, Wyoming; 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
