Arthur L.
Arthur LeRoy Pollard was born August 14, 1919 to Oren M. and Gertrude (White) Pollard of Nehawka, Nebraska. He was baptised and confirmed in the Methodist Church and graduated from Nehawka High School. On July 9,1941 he began his service to his country. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific with the Third Army in the 164th Field Artillery until June 1945. On June 2, 1946, he married Norma Kvols of Wisner, Nebraska. They resided on a farm just outside of Nehawka. In 1949 they moved to a farm south of Wayne, Nebraska where he was engaged in agriculture and raised their two daughters Dianne and Gloria Jean. For the past 26 years Arthur and Norma have enjoyed spending the winters in Weslaco, Texas.
Arthur, 87 passed away November 27, 2006, upon conclusion of his Retirement Park's Poker Tournament, which he won with a straight flush. As always Arthur went out a winner. He was a member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge No. 120 for 50 years, and the Americn Legion.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma, his sister Imogene Bruce; two daughters, Dianne Lutt of Dakota City, Nebraska and her friend Jim Benson, Gloria Fisher and her husband Chuck of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren, Kris, Kim, KC, and Allison; three great-granddaughters, Madelynn, Katlynn, and Tykeha. He is proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Malcom, Robert, and Oren.
