Dorothy M. Elton, 85, of Fremont, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont. The Rev. Tom Shaw will officiate. Visitation on Monday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation on Tuesday at church 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Dorothy M. Elton was born July 19, 1927 in Ponca, to Adam and Emma (Paulson) McPherran. She grew up in Wayne. Dorothy married William F. Elton on June 30, 1945 in Stanton. The couple lived in various parts of the country while William was in the Navy. They lived at Wayne from 1947 to 1955 when they moved to Fremont. Dorothy worked at the former Campbell’s Soup Company in Fremont. In 1961 they moved to Bellevue, where Dorothy worked for Dobbs Cleaners. William died Nov. 13, 1978. Dorothy returned to Fremont in 1982. She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Fremont. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Proctor of Fremont; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Elton of Westminster, Colo., William and Sandra Elton of Omaha and Russell Elton of Lincoln; sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel Berns of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jeanette and Dennis Boyer of Mesa, Ariz. and Betty Hartung of Fremont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Archie and Peggy McPherran of Sacramento, Calif., her twin brother, Darrell McPherran of Redlands, Calif., Donald and Marilyn McPherran and Jerry and Karen McPherran all of Fremont; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas; brothers, Harold and Russell McPherran; sisters, Bonnie Elton, Ruth Moore, Blanche McPherran and Wilma Christ; brothers-in-law, Marvin Berns and Wallace Hartung; and sister-in-law, Candace McPherran. Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans #18 of Fremont and to the American Legion Post #20 Auxiliary of Fremont. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
