HARTINGTON — Earl Pinkelman, 88, of Hartington died on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church here. The Rev. Jeffery Loseke will officiate with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. vigil at Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Earl Louis Pinkelman was born on Feb. 16, 1924, at Wynot to Bruno Conrad and Elizabeth (Backman) Pinkelman. He grew up in the Obert area and graduated from Obert High School in 1942. He then farmed for five years moving to Hartington in 1947.
Earl and Lura E. Heil were married on Oct. 24, 1944 at St. James. After moving to Hartington, Earl worked for five years at the Miller Motor Company. From 1952 until 1981, he delivered milk in Hartington for Morten Dairy, Gillette Dairy and the Hartington Dairy. On June 1, 1971, his wife, Lura, died at the age of 45.
On Oct. 6, 1973, Earl and Melva Knoell were married at Dixon and made their home in Hartington. From 1981 to 1988, Earl worked in the maintenance department at the nursing home in Hartington. He liked to fish and go to the casinos, and he especially enjoyed being with his family and was proud to be a great-great-grandfather.
Earl was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Earl is survived by his wife, Melva of Hartington; six children and their spouses, Janet and Del Potter of Ewing, Joyce and Ron Potter of Valentine, Bill Pinkelman of Hartington, Vicky Roberts and Doug Heitman of Hartington, Randy and Vicky Pinkelman of Hartington, Lori and Tim Sjoquist of Bloomington, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Cocco of Lancaster, Calif., Mary Ellen Olson of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Luvern and Joan Pinkelman of Omaha and Larry and Karen Pinkelman of Diamond Bar, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Lura; a son-in-law, Dale Roberts; a daughter-in-law, Mariann Pinkelman; four brothers, Roman, Victor, Raymond and Lyle Pinkelman; a sister, Leota Thompson; three brothers-in-law, Dallas Olson, Tom Cocco and Keith Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Earl’s grandsons: Greg Potter, Alan Potter, Rodney Potter, Ronald Potter Jr., Timothy Potter, Scott Pinkelman, Mike Pinkelman, Keith Roberts, Brian Roberts and Jarod Sjoquist. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl’s granddaughters, Virginia Soto, Wanda Henning, Rebecca Kruger, Sonja Steffen, Eden Pinkelman, Sara Pinkelman and Jillian Sjoquist.
