Barbara J. Parsons, 69, of Grand Island, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Fett will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mrs. Parson’s body will be cremated and there will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Barbara was born on September 10, 1935 in Grand Island to Detlef and Evelyn (Bockhahn) Sass. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Merle & Roxie Parsons, and Edward & Karla Parsons all of Grand Island; one daughter, Charmaine Arp of Grand Island; and one sister, Darlene Kachelein of Florida. Additional survivors include five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Barbara received her education in Grand Island. She married Clarence Parsons on May 3, 1952 in Edgefield, South Carolina. Barbara was a homemaker, and later was co-owner of Mr. Donut in Grand Island. She was then employed at the Grand Island School of Business, and then at Tiffany Square Care Center. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Barbara enjoyed gardening, watching Husker games, and painting crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lois Wassinger; one brother, Delbert Sass, and her son-in-law Dan Arp.
