HURST, TX -- Marie Eileen (Meister) Smollen, 79, died Saturday, February 26, 2005. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Francis T. Curran will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday with a 6 P.M. vigil service at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Marie Eileen Meister Smollen was born August 27, 1925, in Grainton, NE to Peter J. and Mary (Nealon) Meister. She worked as a Lab Technician in bacteriology for Twin River Egg Processing Plant. In Fort Worth, she was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the Monday Night Cenacle Group at St. John and was active with Catholics United for Life. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Smollen, her parents, and her twin brother and sister, Robert Meister and Roberta Meister Nelson. Survivors: Daughters, Ann Welch and husband, Leland of Hurst, TX, Elizabeth Cameron and husband, Robert of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, John Welch and wife, Debra of North Richland Hills, TX, William Welch and wife, Marla of Rockwall, TX, Robert Cameron and wife, Nicole of Apollo Beach, FL, Michele Kamradt and husband, Steven of Bradenton, FL, Aimee Cameron and David Cameron of Tampa, FL; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, John Meister, William Meister and wife, Sally and Francis Meister and wife, Lois, all of Grand Island, NE, Jim Meister and wife, Eileen of Laramie, WY; twin sisters, Annie Maser and husband, Alex and Emma Krafczik of Green River, WY, Marcy Deschene and husband, Leonard of Lincoln, NE; and numerous nephews and nieces.
