Harold Arthur
Harold Arthur Orr was born July 18, 1912 in Volunteer, South Dakota near Rapid City. His parents were Wm. Ernest Orr and Anna B. Orr.
Harold grew up around Sturgis and Rapid City, South Dakota and enlisted in the Army on November 15, 1940 at Fort Meade, South Dakota.
He served nearly 5 years in the Army and received his Honorable Discharge on August 27, 1945, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was a 48 year member of the American Legion.
Following his discharge he moved to Ainsworth, Nebraska where he farmed for a number of years and was also employed at the ASCS office in Ainsworth.
Harold loved hunting and fishing and received "Rifle Sharpshooter Badge" while in the service. He was always the first to organize help for a neighbor in need.
Harold and his wife Grazia, moved to Bassett, Nebraska then moved to Apache Junction, Arizona in 1974. He passed away at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Arizona on August 10, 1993.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter Louise Kirkbride, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; a step-daughter Patricia Johnson, Houston, Texas and a step-son, Steve Keim of Twin Falls, Idaho.
His final resting place is in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, South Dakota.
