Hedwig C. Reher, 101, of Grand Island, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Tiffany Square Care Center.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Fett will officiate.
Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reher was born on December 25, 1903 in Hall County to Juergen and Emma (Wegner) Knuth.
Survivors of the immediate family include four daughters and sons-in-law, Roma E. & Riley Stephenson of Colville, Washington, LaMae E. & Marvin Stoltenberg of Cairo, Arlene A. & Robert Rohweder of Grand Island, and Caroline W. & Joseph Ruzicka of Omaha.
Additional survivors include 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reher received her education in Hall County.
She married Ed Reher on June 10, 1925 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Mrs. Reher lived in Hall County her entire life.
Mr. Reher died in 1977.
Mrs. Reher has resided at Tiffany Square for the past 8 years.
She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and playing cards.
Mrs. Reher was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Altar Society, the Platte-Duetsche Ladies Society, and the Farmers Union Guild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Melvin Rohweder; five brothers, Henry, Herman, Arthur, Fred, and Hellmuth; and two sisters, Anna & Meta.
