MORENO, Louise


Louise Moreno, 87, of Grand Island, died Monday, January 3, 2005 at her home. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. rosary at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Survivors of the immediate family include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Juanita Moreno of Glenwood, Iowa; one daughter and son-in-law, Ramona & Carmel Melgoza of Glenwood, Iowa; two brothers and sister-in-law, Phillip & Nellie Salinas of Grand Island, and Jessie Salinas Jr. of Grand Island; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carlotta & Stanley Aguilar of Grand Island, Sofia & Juaquin Galvan of Omaha, Jenny Flores of Denver, Colorado, and Josephine & Jose Acosta of Phoenix, Arizona. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moreno was born on October 17, 1917 in Colotlan Jalisco, Mexico. She came to the United States in 1924. Louise was raised in Colorado and received her education there. She then moved to Grand Island. She married Miguel Moreno of June 15, 1943 in Grand Island. Louise was employed at the Yancey Hotel for 10 years. She then worked for Ideal Cleaners for 8 years, and then worked 15 years for Delicious Foods. She enjoyed crocheting, and gardening. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983; two brothers, Katarino, and Pedro; and by two sisters, Doris Quinones, and Julia Salinas.
