George D. Oliver, 69, of Grand Island, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 in the Emergency Room at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ron Benson will officiate.
There will also be a family prayer service at 1:45 P.M. on Monday at the church.
Burial will be at the Wiegert Cemetery northeast of Grand Island.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-
Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Oliver was born on September 17, 1935 at Grand Island to Charles and Augusta (Paustian) Oliver.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Anita, of Grand Island; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tim & Annette Oliver of Seward, Chuck Oliver of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jana & Bob Fusselman of Grand Island, and Beth & Jeff Lemke of Phoenix, Arizona.
Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren.
Mr. Oliver grew up in Grand Island, and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1953. Following his education, he served in the U.S. Army for two years.
He married Anita Quandt on January 8, 1956 in Grand Island. The couple lived in Ft. Bliss (El Paso) Texas for a year before returning to Grand Island.
Mr. Oliver was employed as a route salesman for several years. He was then employed at Overhead Door for 24 years, until ill health forced his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Oliver enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, baseball, reading, and working crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Andrew Oliver; three sisters, Florence Kroeger, Irma Roby, and Ruth Falldorf.
