Ruby L. (Fear) Molesworth, 69, of Grand Island, died Saturday December 18, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday December 22, at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ruby was born December 22, 1934, in Lincoln County, near Hershey, Nebraska to Joy Edward and Lydia Belle (Culver) Fear.
Survivors of the immediate family are her husband, Alfred ‘Al’ Molesworth of Grand Island; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl Lee and Carolyn Fear and Buster and Patricia Fear all of North Platte; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Robert Quimby of Sutherland; two sisters-in-law, Amy Petersen of Central City and Viola Tucker of Sargent.
Ruby was raised on a farm/ranch in Lincoln County and attended District 85 School for eight years. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1953. Ruby attended summer school at Kearney, Nebraska and one year at McCook College in McCook. She taught school in Lincoln County for one year and then worked for Townsend Manufacturing Company until her marriage.
Ruby married Charles Alfred “Al” Molesworth on March 2, 1956, at North Platte. They lived on a ranch near Brady until health problems forced Mr. Molesworth to seek medical help. The couple moved for a short time northwest of Hershey, then later to Grand Island.
Mrs. Molesworth worked as a nurse’s aid for the old Lutheran and old St. Francis Hospitals. She taught school in Custer and Howard County, and worked at Walbaum Egg Plant. Ruby then worked as a nurse’s aid at Worshen, Parkside, Lakeview and Betts Nursing Homes. She later worked for ARA at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant, until it closed. Ruby then worked as a seamstress for Carlson Awning and Canvas Co. until ill health forced her to retire.
Mrs. Molesworth was a member of the Methodist Church, Prairie Pioneer Genealogy Society, Nebraska State Genealogy Society, Diabetic and Arthritis Support Groups. She is a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, The National Association of Federal Retired Employees and the Good Sam Camping Club. She had also done volunteer work for several organizations and worked for the Election Board of Hall County.
Ruby enjoyed sewing, embroidery, reading, crossword puzzles and yard work.
