Ora M. Irvine, 91, of Grand Island, died Saturday morning, December 4, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends.
Mrs. Irvine was born January 28, 1913 to Mads C. and Ida (Sorensen) Madsen on a farm near Nysted. She received her education in elementary school at Nysted and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1930.
She was united in marriage to Ronald Irvine on October 16, 1936 at St. Paul. They lived on a farm near Farwell then moved to Grand Island where she lived until her death. Mr. Irvine died January 25, 1997.
She was employed at Lutheran Hospital for 11 years and later worked with her husband at Ron’s Implement. She volunteered at the Hospital and Red Cross.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church where she was in Rebecca Circle and the Altar Guild. She was a member of Platt Duetshe Ladies and had been a member of several camping groups.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law La Jean and Byron Duff of Lincoln and two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ann Irvine of Lincoln and Darold and Dianna Irvine of Murrieta, California. Also left to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Besides her husband she is preceded in death by an infant daughter Sheryl, a sister Hertha Jacobsen and two brothers, Erald and Frode Madsen.
