Randall J. ‘Rand’ Chambers, 53, of Grand Island died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness.
At his request, there will be no services. Cremation was provided through Westlawn Memorial Park Crematory. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rand was born July 12, 1951, at Central City, NE to Lester L. and Margaret P. (Power) Chambers.
Survivors of the immediate family include; four sons and daughter- in- law, Jason and Claire Chambers of Boise, Idaho, Matthew Chambers of Grand Island, Adam Chambers of Doniphan and Ben Chambers of Kearney; three sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Powell of Lincoln, Ann Chambers of Grand Island and Susan and Patrick Barrett of Lincoln; one brother, Al Chambers of Lincoln; and his father, Lester of Grand Island.
Additional survivors include one grandson, Malcolm Chambers; three nieces and one nephew.
Rand graduated from York High School in 1969. He went to work for Boatel Alaska as a prep cook on offshore oilrigs. He worked on various rigs in the waters off of Alaska.
He married Sherrill Wymer in December 1979.
He returned to Nebraska in 1993 and worked in various sales positions.
Rand was involved in various sports and was very athletic. He enjoyed umpiring his son’s ball games.
He will always be remembered for wearing his “artistic” overalls.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and one brother, Thomas Lee Chambers.
