DUERING, Earl L.


Earl L. Duering, 74, of Grand Island, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dan Bremer will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mr. Duering’s body will be cremated at Westlawn Memorial Park Crematory. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Duering was born on November 23, 1929 at Hildreth, Nebraska to Edward and June (Glenn) Duering. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Melva of Aurora; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Marcia Duering of Fairbury, and Scott & Jan Duering of Lincoln; one daughter and son-in-law, Kris & Randy Minnick of Grand Island. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dale & Meg Duering of Kearney, and Robert Duering of Hildreth. Mr. Duering received his education in Hildreth and graduated from Hildreth High School in 1947. He married Melva Lippstreu on June 30, 1949 in Hildreth. The couple lived in Blue Hill where he was employed as the assistant manager at Chicago Lumber Company. The couple then moved to Winside, where he managed the Chicago Lumber Company. He then worked as a self-employed carpenter. The couple then moved to Grand Island in 1980, and Mr. Duering was employed at Johnson Cashway. He retired in 1994. Mr. Duering enjoyed woodworking, and attending the musical and sporting events of his grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Mr. Duering was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Francis Duering.
