Irene J. Ksiazek, 90, of Grand Island, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Elba. There will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Irene was born on January 3, 1914 at Wolbach, Nebraska to Edward and Balbina (Marshlek) Ksiazek. Survivors of the immediate family include one sister, Loretta Ksiazek of Grand Island. Additional survivors include one niece Sally Kaiser of Papillion; one nephew Tom Kaiser and his wife Ardie of Farwell; great-niece, Stacie Anzures and her husband Joe of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; great nephews, Troy Kaiser of Farwell, and Loran Kaiser of Kearney; and brother-in-law, Earl Kaiser and his wife Clara of St. Paul. Irene was raised on the family farm near Wolbach. She attended elementary school at Elba, and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1931. She then attended and graduated from St. Paul Business College in 1933. She was employed by the U.S. Government as an office administrator for the U.S. Forest Service. She retired after 37 years in this position. Irene loved to garden and grow flowers, and she enjoyed working with crafts. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Sylvester, and Max Ksiazek, and one sister, Caroline Kaiser.
