HOFFA, Shirley A.

Shirley A. ‘Shay’ Hoffa, 76, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, October 6, 2004 at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Graveside services will be on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Francis Curran will officiate. There will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hoffa was born on September 24, 1928 in Grand Island to Frank & Lilian Ladwig. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Robert W. Hoffa of Grand Island; one daughter, Barbara Zinn of Omaha; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Kathy Hoffa and Robert & Linda Hoffa all of Grand Island, and Mark & Julie Hoffa of Papillion, Nebraska; one sister, Phyllis Ourada of Grand Island; a step-sister, Twyla States of Grand Island. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hoffa was raised in Grand Island, and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1947. She married Robert W. Hoffa on September 23, 1947 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island. Mrs. Hoffa worked at various places of employment, including the Lutheran Hospital, and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping and playing bingo.
