GEORGE, Roy

Roy George Sr. 80, of Grand Island, died early Wednesday morning, September 15, 2004, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 18 at 1:30 P.M. at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. George was born October 10, 1923 at Platte Center, Nebraska the son of William and Lizzie (Mason) George. He received his education at Sioux City, Iowa. He lived with his family several places while growing up before coming to Grand Island. He was united in marriage to Patsy Stevens on June 30, 1956 at Hastings. He lived most of his adult life in Grand Island. Mr. George was employed as a painter for the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant, Diamond Engineering and Warner Construction. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by two sons; Roy George Jr. and Terry Mason both of Grand Island. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one sister; Nettie Smith of Mercer Island, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003.
