SCHAUPDACH, Emil

Emil Schaupdach, 91, of Grand Island, died Monday, August 30, 2004 at the Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Schaupdach was born on December 23, 1912 at Grand Island to John and Bertha (Schimmer) Schaupdach. Survivors of the immediate family include one brother, Johnny Schaupdach of Grand Island; and one sister, Laura Matthiesen of Grand Island. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews. Mr. Schaupdach received his education at District #4 in Hall County. He worked on the family farm south of Grand Island with his brothers Alfred and Christ. He retired in 1980, and has been a resident at Tiffany Square Care Center for the past two years. He was a member of the Platte-Deutsche. Mr. Schaupdach especially enjoyed listendng to Polka music. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willie, Alfred, and Christ; and one sister, Clara Huston.
