STAFFORD, Harry L.

Harry L. Stafford, 76, of Grand Island, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 1:30 P.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Curran will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 until 5:00 P.M. with a 4:00 P.M. wake service at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Stafford was born on January 9, 1928 in Diamond, Missouri to Charles and Bessie (Hughes) Stafford. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Dolores of Grand Island; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe & Candy Stafford and Jack & Karen Stafford of Grand Island, Tim & Kandi Stafford of Blair, and Tom & Ronda Stafford of Waverly; two daughters and son-in-law, Theresa Bitterman of Mason City, and Terri & Steve Nunn of Grand Island. Additional survivors include 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren. Mr. Stafford received his education in Diamond, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-47. He married Kathleen Tardy in November 1947. She died in October 1963. Mr. Stafford then married Dolores NcNelis on June 20, 1964 in Grand Island. Mr. Stafford was employed by the city, and then served in the maintenance department at St. Francis Hospital, until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Hugh and Roy.
