Mildred M. Dahlke, 85, of Grand Island, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mrs. Dahlke was born on December 18, 1918 in Anselmo, Nebraska to Henry and Estella Maude (Wilson) Barrett. Survivors of the immediate family include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Sharon Dahlke of Bend, Oregon; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Steve Hodder of Laramie, Wyoming. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Jayme Dahlke, Mike Wieczorek, Robert Ewers, and Tonya Ewers; three great grandchildren, Melissa Dahlke, Taylor Wieczorek, and Lauren Ewers; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Barrett. Mrs. Dahlke received her education in Custer County, and graduated from Broken Bow High School in1936. She was employed at the A.A.A. office in Broken Bow. She married Gordon Dahlke on May 31, 1941. The couple lived in Broken Bow before moving to Grand Island. They owned and operated Dahlke Sanitation until the early 1980’s. They also owned and managed real estate in the Grand Island area. Mr. Dahlke died in 1996. Mrs. Dahlke was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judy; four brothers, and one sister.
