MADER, Robert L.


Robert L. Mader, 66, of rural Grand Island, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at his home. Mr. Mader’s body was cremated. Memorial services will be on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at the Wiegert Cemetery northeast of Grand Island following the service at the funeral home. The family will be greeting friends on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Mader was born on March 10, 1938 at Alda to Herman and Helen (Reher) Mader. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Nancy of rural Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta & Steve Stelk of Grand Island, and Debra & Lonnie Jauken of Holdrege; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Theresa Leschinsky Sr. of Jackson, Minnesota, and Paul & Jaycee Mader of Lincoln; a step-daughter Lisa Cook and a step-son, Ricky Williams both of Decatur, Alabama. One brother and sister-in-law, Leonard & Marlene Mader of Grand Island, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorene & Loyal Quandt of Lincoln, and Betty & Wayne Rennau of Alda. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Michael Leschinsky Jr., Breanna Leschinsky, Austin Stelk, Tyler Stelk, and Rebecca Mader; two step grandchildren, Ann Marie Cook and Jeff Cook both of Decatur, Alabama. Mr. Mader received his education at District #6 and District #15 in Hall County. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from March 12, 1958 until March 11, 1960. He farmed near Grand Island until 1965. In 1965, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and was employed as a mail carrier. He married Margo Williams in 1966. In 1975, he married Nancy Goakey Leschinsky. In September 2003, the couple moved to the farm south of Alda. Robert retired from farming in March 2004. He enjoyed reading, going to farm sales and auctions, and collecting rocks, coins, and stamps. Robert was a member of the Platte-Duetsche, and the United Veterans Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
