RICHARDS, Jerry L.

Jerry L. Richards, 59, of Johnston, Iowa, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. In lieu of funeral services, his family invites friends to share memories with them from 5 to 8 P. M. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Richards was born August 3, 1944, at Kearney, NE to Lyle and Doris (Moffett) Richards. He is survived by the most important things in his life: his daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Bobby Dean of Johnston, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Tara Richards, and granddaughter, Abby Catherine Richards of Omaha. Additional survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Susan Richards of Grand Island; two sisters and brother-in-law, June Enmon of Sidell, LA, and Janet and Mike Murphy of San Dimas, Calif., five nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1962 and then attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Hastings College. He married Mary Ann McGuire in 1967. The family lived in Hastings and Grand Island where he was employed as an accountant. He had a life-long love of horse racing and had been employed at several Nebraska race tracks.
