Donald Wiese, 96, of Grand Island, died Wednesday June 16, 2004, at Tiffany Square Care Center. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Wiese was born Feb. 24, 1908, at Wood River to Emil and Emma (Kay) Wiese. He grew up in rural Hall County and attended District 44 School. Donald married Nora N. Moeller on Feb. 25, 1931, at Kearney. The farmed near Wood River and then southeast of Doniphan. They later farmed south of Grand Island near Schimmer Lake raising sugar beets for over 7 years. In 1941 they moved east of Grand Island where they farmed in Merrick County. Mr. Wiese moved from the farm to Tiffany Square in February of 2001. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. He is survived by one daughter and son- in-law, Marlene and Cal Fuehrer of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Scott Fuehrer of Norfolk and Sherone Stork of Arlington; four great-grandsons, Cord Scheer, Emmitt Scheer, Taylor Scheer and Samuel Scheer; and one great-granddaughter, Zaena Stork. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora in 1999 and son, Darold in 2001; one brother, Rudie and one sister, Edna Paulsen.
