Shirley, M. Rumbaugh, 73, of Grand Island, died Friday morning, May 25, 2004 in Omaha. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 10:00 A.M. from St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island with Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 P.M. at the Howe Bedford Cemetery near Auburn, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, May 31, 2004 from 4-9 P.M. at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-7 P.M. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Mrs. Rumbaugh was born November 20, 1930 at Brownville, Nebraska the daughter of Henry and Adeline (Rogge) Matschullat. She grew up in the Brownville, Nemaha and Auburn area graduating from Nemaha High School in 1947. She then attended Business School in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Melvin F. “Buzz” Rumbaugh on August 22, 1948 at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Auburn. Mrs. Rumbaugh worked as a legal secretary and later as a bookkeeper for her husband’s businesses. They lived in Auburn, Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus and Florida before coming to Grand Island 30 years ago. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and Mary Circle. She was also a member of the Grand Island Sketch Club. She enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Charice and her husband Larry Nyffeler of Omaha and Beth and her husband Stephen Reinsch also of Omaha. She has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Jerry Matschullat of Globe, Arizona and a sister, Deloris Seid of Auburn. Her parents preceded her in death.
