BEHRING, Raymond G.


Raymond G. Behring, 82, of Grand Island died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Mr. Behring was born on February 22, 1922, at Grand Island to Louis and Rosa Marie (Goehring) Behring. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Roberta of Yelm, Wash. and daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Al Gosda of Grand Island. He is also survived by two grandsons, Rick and Ted Gosda, both of Grand Island. Raymond grew up in rural Hall County and attended District 18 School. He married Roberta R. Rogan on February 27, 1951, at Grand Island. The couple farmed northwest of Grand Island. Ray raised hogs, cattle and chickens along with working the land. They lost their farmstead in the June 3, 1980 tornados, but later were able to rebuild. Ray enjoyed polka music and loved the companionship of his dog, Benji. He had sold his 1937 John Deere tractor to his grandson, Ted, who is currently restoring it. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Norm, Herman “Bud” and Les Behring. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice.
