Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 14, 1987 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. Interment was held in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. OBITUARY: Shirley Ann Andersen Shirley Ann Andersen was born August 18, 1924 at Dannebrog, Nebraska to Thomas S. and Clara Marie Rasmussen Hermansen. She was baptized at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Nysted, Nebraska. In 1936 her family moved to Danevang, Texas, where she was confirmed at Danevang Lutheran Church in 1940. She graduated from Blessing High School in Texas in 1941. She attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, and then moved to California where she worked for 2 years. She returned to Nebraska in 1946 and taught school at District 20. On November 1, 1947, she was married to Ivan J. Andersen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. They made their home near Marquette where they farmed for 20 years. During this time she attended Kearney State College and graduated in May of 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She taught 18 years at the Marquette Public Schools. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg where she had taught both Bible School and Sunday School. She was a member of the LCW, Nebraska State Education Association and the Marquette Education Association. She was a past member of a county extension club and had been a 4-H Club leader for several years. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. DeVon (Debbie) Huebert of Marquette and Mrs. Rex (Becky) Richter of Aurora, three sisters, Selma Sorensen of Arco, Minnesota, Alpha Christensen of Marquette and Barbara Handrup of Aurora; three brothers Leif Hermansen of Hampton, Rex Hermansen of Aurora and T. Kermit Hermansen of Cassville, Missouri and 6 grandchildren Jennifer, Brent and Amy Huebert and Nicole, Tiffany and Karrie Ann Richter other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Andersen was preceded in death by her parents.
