Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 17, 1985 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
OBITUARY: Elmer V. Andersen
Elmer Victor Andersen, the son of Stephen and Anna Andersen, was born at Kronborg, Nebraska, on January 18, 1910, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 13, 1985, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 25 days.
He and his parents moved to a farm west of Marquette, and after graduating from the 8th grade he worked for farmers until he was 18. He then went to Custer County, near Westerville and Broken Bow.
It was there that he met Lona Hodge, and they were married November 29, 1933, at Ord, Nebraska.
They farmed for seven years in that area and in 1945, they moved back to Marquette, where he worked in the Ordinance Plant at Grand Island, until it closed. He then worked at the Co-op elevator in Marquette for 24 years. After his retirement he had a lawn mower and saw sharpening business.
Elmer was a member of the Marquette Lions Club, the Methodist Church and he had served on the town board for 2 terms. He was also on the Fire Department and belonged to the Senior Citizens Group. He had served on the school board in Custer County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son Leo, who passed away in 1944, and one sister Esther Person.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Lona; 2 sons, Phil and Gene of Marquette; 5 sisters, Irma Travis of Fullerton, Edith McConnell of Grand Island, Ethel Johnson of Central City, Lucille Nyblom of Phillips and Lillian May of Phillips; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends.
