Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 18, 1994 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
OBITUARY: Betty Amend
Elizabeth “Betty” Amend, the daughter of Lucas and Susanna (Spomer) Beideck, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 21, 1908, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 14, 1994, at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 23 days.
She grew up in Lincoln, where she attended school, and later cared for her ailing mother. While living in Lincoln, she also worked in a print shop as a press feeder.
On May 1, 1929, she was united in marriage to Harold Amend, at Lincoln, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. They moved to Aurora until 1932, when they returned to Lincoln, residing there until 1935, when they moved back to Aurora. “Betty” was employed at the Nielsen Cleaners in Aurora, during World War 2, later worked at the Aurora Bakery, operated by Alan Hoffmaster, and she worked at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, until her retirement. She was a baby sitter for many Aurora people and was known as a “second Mom” by many.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents; one daughter Joan Lundquist; 2 brothers, George and Alex Beideck; and one sister Lydia Kroeller.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Harold of Aurora; one son Dallas and his wife DeEtta of Clifton, Virginia; one brother John Beideck of Lincoln; one sister Marie Mickle ofKennewick, Washington; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
