ROSS, Louis John Theodore


Louis John Theodore Ross was born on August 22, 1907, the son of Albert and Anna (Buchholz) Ross. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith on September 22, 1907 at Zion Lutheran Church rural Bancroft by Rev. W. Harms. He was confirmed May 8, 1921 at St Paul's Luthern Church in Bancroft, Nebraska by Rev. Walter E. Homann. His confirmation verse was taken from John 14:26 NIV "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." Throughout Louis' youth, he was an active Walther League member, participating in seven play productions. Baseball was a hobby greatly enjoyed by the whole family, with Louis as the coach and brother, Harley, on the mound. Louis also served St. Paul's Lutheran Church as an active voting member, usher and elder. His life's work was farming northwest of Bancroft and feeding cattle. Louis married Elizabeth Schenk on February 15, 1948 at Aisworth, NE. This union was blessed with three children: John Alan, Lois Ann and Karen Elaine. Louis and Elizabeth actively farmed near Bancroft until retiring and moving into Bancroft in 1975. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Bancroft; a son and his wife, John and Judith Ross of Bancroft; and a daughter Karen and Donald Timm of Lyons, NE. Five grandchildren: Tina, Kathrine, and Virginia Ross of Bancroft; Christopher Vejnovich currently stationed with the Air Force in the United Kingdom, and Sara Vejnovich of Lyons, NE. Three step-children: Matthew, Paul and Kathryn Timm of Lyons, NE. One sister Marilyn Bonneau of Rochelle, IL., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Ann; his parents, three sisters: Laura Kosowski, Leoba Hermsmeyer, and Leona Nelson and one brother, Harley Ross.
