AKERSON, Willis Albin

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 8, 1996 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Willis Akerson Willis Albin Akerson, the son of George and Ruth (Sundberg) Akerson, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 16, 1914, and died suddenly at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 4, 1996, at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 18 days. He grew up at Aurora, attended Aurora Schools, and graduated from Aurora High School. He began farming in 1934. On October 1, 1944, he was united in marriage to Doris Wandersee, at Hampton, Nebraska. They farmed all their married life, and later moved into their present home in Aurora. Willis was a member of the Aurora First Evangelical Lutheran Church, and held many church offices. He was also a member of the Aurora Lions Club, belonged to 2 antique tractor clubs, and won many trophies in antique tractor pull competition. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Doris of Aurora; one son Ron and his wife Marsha of Aurora; 2 daughters Barbara Kirchhoff and her husband Jim of Dallas, Texas, and Marilyn Engstrom and her husband Judd of Westerville, Ohio; one brother Wilbur of Aurora; one sister Alice Athey of San Fransisco, and 5 grandchildren.
