ALBERS, James S.

James S. Albers, 53 years of age from Minden died on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Kearney County Health Services Hospital in Minden. Jim was born on January 13, 1957 in Minden, Nebraska to Howard and Maxine (Smith) Albers. He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1975. He married Laurie Bergsten and they had two children, Amber and Michael. Jim farmed in the Minden area. On September 13, 2003 he married Shauna Bonner. Jim farmed, trucked and was the pastor of God's Lighthouse Church in Heartwell, Nebraska. Survivors include his wife, Shauna of Minden; five daughters, Amber Miller of Manhattan, KS, Amber Raymond of Minden, Amanda Albers of Minden Adrienna Albers of Minden and Lacey Pifer of Hastings; son, Michael of Kearney; two grandchildren, Gavin and Jaycee; three sisters, Karen Koch, Leah Davis and Jane Kuehn; brother, John Albers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Blake Koch. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Paster Jack Atterburg officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family.
