G. Dale Lucas, 84 years of age from Minden died on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Dale was born on December 1, 1926 in St. Louis, MO to Levi and Alta (Jorgenson) Lucas. He moved to Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. On October 22, 1948 in married Ardyce Johnson and to this union four children were born Scott, Terry, Shelly and Brent. He later married Linda Hagge Cope on October 10, 1973. Dale was a plumber in Kearney for many years and was referred to as Dale “Leaky” Lucas. They lived in Loveland, CO and Dale worked at Allen's Plumbing in Loveland and the Berthoud Nursing Home in Berthoud, Colorado. They retired and moved to Minden in 2003. Dale enjoyed the mountains, camping, fishing and playing cards. Survivors include two sons, Scott Lucas and his wife, Jolene of Andrews, TX and Brent Lucas of Glenwood Springs, CO; two daughters, Terry Archer and her husband, Mike of Andrews TX and Shelly Law and her husband, Roy of Denver, CO; two step sons, Marshall Cope and his friend, Linda of Kearney and Robert Cope and his wife, Tammy of Martell, NE; one step daughter, Julie Terrel and her husband, Ron of Minden; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and on brother, Charles Lucas of Kearney. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda and grandson, Zachary Memorial services will be on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethany Home Chapel with Rev. Nancy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery with Military Rites. There will be no visitation. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
