Maurine Frerichs, 94, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3 at the Evangelical Free Church in Minden, with Pastor Tom Barnes officiating. Prior to the service, a private burial will take place at the Keene Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden, with the family present. Condolences can be sent to www.laytoncraigfuneralhome.com Maurine was born on March 3, 1916 to Alfred and Nellie (Wendell) Boostrom on the family farm south of Keene. She attended school District 69 in Keene through the 8th grade and graduated from Minden High School in 1933. She worked in Denver and in Los Angeles for a time. On December 8, 1946, Maurine married Weert J. Frerichs. They made their home on a farm southwest of Keene until 1973, when they moved to Axtell. In 2007, they moved to Bethany Home in Minden, where they lived until her death. Maurine was an active member of the Keene and the Minden Evangelical Free Churches. She belonged to an extension club, to sewing circle, and to Bible studies. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and she loved hearing about the activities of her grandchildren. She attended as many of their activities as possible. Survivors include her husband, Weert, of Bethany Home in Minden, daughter Susan Woodbridge and her husband John of Lake Forest, IL daughter-in-law Joan Frerichs of Axtell, NE, daughter Linda Swan and husband Ty of Holdrege, NE, son Don Frerichs and wife Jody of Keene, NE, son Rick Frerichs and wife Jean of Salt Lake City, UT, daughter Kathryn Kleinschmidt and husband Bob of Medina, MN, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Maurine was blessed with a large, extended family who kept in contact with her, as well as friends from the Axtell area and the Minden and Keene Free churches. Maurine was preceded in death by two brothers and two sons--John in infancy and Roger in March 2008. Maurine was very loyal in supporting missionaries her entire life. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Mission Fund through the Minden Free Church or to the charity of your choice. Maurine decided to follow Jesus at an early age and walked with him all her life. She is now with her Savior and Lord.
