WEMPEN, David Merl


David Merl Wempen, 54 years of age from Minden, NE. Born April 24, 1956 to Merl and Virginia Wempen (Lovitt) in Kearney Nebraska. David died October 22, 2010 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege at the age of 54. On June 5, 1976 He married Denise Sorensen in Kearney, NE. She died April 5, 1989. Survivors inculde his daughters, Denesia Raymundo & husband Mario, Dina Silvrants & husband Scott, Danielle Wempen & Deanna Wempen; 14 Grandchildren, Devyn, Dylan, Tyler & Maddisyn Silvrants; Timothy, Michael & Isabell Wempen; Jaina, Trystan, Sabastyen, Selena, & Evelynn Raymundo; Julian & Jeremiah Wempen; mother Virginia Wempen; sisters Linda Morgan & husband Dellano; Patty Wallace & husband Gaylen; Angie Runnells & husband Scott; brother Jerry Wempen & wife Robin; nieces, Christina, Ashley, Jessica, Cindi, Sarah, Mkayla & Brenda. Nephews Steven, Skylar, Nicholas, Matthew, Jared, Trygan & Scott; one Aunt & several cousins. Preceded in death by beloved wife Denise, granddaughter, Jasmyne May Silvrants, father Merl Wempen, sister Carol A. Wright, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, & several Aunts & Uncles. Graduated from Kearney High School, operated Sonic in Cozad & Lexington for a few years, worked for Interstate Structures building grain bins, Dandee Construction for several years, Roy John Nelson doing construction & several other construction companies before becoming a self employed construction contractor up to the time of his passing. His passion in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, several of whom he witnessed coming into this world. Dad loved riding his Harley Davidson, enjoyed going to Sturgis in South Dakota, collecting coins, building things with his hands & teaching others the carpenter skills he had learned over his lifetime. Memorial services will be at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Don Canady officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery.
