JENSEN, Betty M.

Betty M. Jensen, 79 of Kearney, NE, formerly of Minden died on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Gibbon Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon. Betty was born on May 24, 1931 in Kirwin, KS to Ralph and Helen (Newell) Gaines. She grew up in the Agra, KS area. On October 23, 1955 she married Ernest Jensen. They made their home in Minden. Betty worked at the Pioneer Village for a short time. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family on the telephone, her flower garden, dancing to the polka and listening to country music. Most of all she loved being around her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Diann Jensen of Kearney and Denise Godtel and her husband, Lonny of Clay Center; one son, Dennis Jensen and his wife, Arlene of Kearney; step daughter, Yvonne Gydesen and her husband, Orville of Aurora, NE; step daughter in-law, Marsha Jensen of CA; seven grandchildren, Laci, Dan, Jessica, Delsia, Holly, Zac and Brittany; five step grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristi, Eric, Justin and Tanya and two great grandchildren, Dominic and Ezra. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernie who died in 1973, stepson, Ernie Jr., two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
