CASPER, Aaron


Aaron Casper, 83 years of age from Hildreth, Nebraska died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Omaha, Nebraska. Aaron was born on February 20, 1927 to Paul and Motjie (Saathoff) Casper on the family farmhouse in southern Kearney County, Nebraska. He grew up in the Hildreth area and graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1944. He was also a member of the Hildreth basketball team that won the state championship in 1944; they had a 29-0 record. On June 18, 1950 he married Germaine Einspahr and they lived and farmed in the Hildreth area. Aaron retired in 2008 but remained very active in the farming operation. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth and the Kearney Elks. He enjoyed playing 4-point pitch, following baseball, Nebraska Huskers Football and Volleyball. Aaron was very proud of the Hildreth community and their school. He drove school bus for the Hildreth Public School for many years. Above all, Aaron loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Germaine of Kearney; two daughters, Faylin Henricksen and her fiancé, Steve Linden of Kearney and Tandra Nutzman and her husband, Michael of Kearney; one son, Robin Casper and his wife, Joyce of Lenexa, KS; six grandchildren, Dane, Collin and Tray Henricksen, Blair Nutzman and his wife, Katie and Kelsey Nutzman and Matthew Casper and his wife, Heidi; two great grandchildren, Mariel Casper and Braylon Nutzman; and one sister, LaVada Mills and her husband, Lee of Minden. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Ardella Coon and Velma Anderson and an infant brother, John. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with Reverends Steve and Patti Byrne officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Hildreth. Visitation will be at the church Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. with the family present. Jelden-Craig Funeral Home in Hildreth is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the church or Mount Carmel Home in Kearney.
