PETERSON, Helen M.

Helen M. Peterson, 80 years of age from Minden, NE died on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her home in Minden. Helen was born on March 8, 1930 in Minden, Nebraska to Clair and Lena (Smith) Favinger. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1947. On October 1, 1950 she married Robert E. Peterson. They lived and farmed in the Minden area. Helen worked as the Deputy Kearney County Assessor for many years. Robert died in 1994. Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden where she was active in the women's groups in the church. Helen was a very busy person; she enjoyed gardening, walking her dog, sewing and Nebraska Football. Helen had a great sense of humor and a love for animals. Her family will always remember her great sugar cookies that all her family and friends would enjoy. Survivors include one son, Robert A. Peterson and his wife, Cindy of Minden; one daughter, Robin Peterson of Littleton, CO; five grandchildren, Chris Peterson, Sara Peterson and her husband, Chad, Nicholas, Benjamin and Christine DeLashmutt; and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, stepbrother and a stepsister. Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
