MADSEN, Isabel

Isabel Madsen, 91 years of age of Minden, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Long Term Care in Minden, Nebraska. After cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date with Layton-Craig Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Isabel was born September 1, 1918, southeast of Norman to John P. Petersen and Marie (Jacobs) Petersen. She attended country school and graduated from Minden High School with perfect attendance. She taught country school for several years after graduation. On December 3, 1938, she married Eugene Madsen. He passed away in 1981. They farmed around the Minden area. Isabel enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her family. She was a 4-H leader for 14 years. Survivors include her daughter Carol and son-in-law Bill Valen of Grass Valley, CA; daughter Mary and son-in-law Merle Walek of Lincoln, NE; son Tom and daughter-in-law Franny Madsen of Kearney, NE; 8 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents; sisters, Hazel Meyer, Mildred Meyer, and brother, Philip Petersen. Memorials are suggested to the Isabel Madsen Memorial Fund.
